Rock - coming to Christ the King!!!!

51 years ago Dom Edmund Jones, our then parish priest, challenged 2 young musicians who were running the “Group Mass” to write a religious rock musical for members of the youth club to perform. He was obsessed with the hit West-End musical ‘Godspell”.  Actually he’d seen it over 20 times ! Those musicians were Anthony Filby and Jo Collins. They rose to the challenge and ‘ROCK’ the musical was born, based on the life of St Peter.  It was an overwhelming success.
The following year, spurred on by its success, we were determined to continue to create pieces of theatre, joined then by Mary Ward ( who had moved into the parish) and Chickenshed was born.
So, to celebrate Chickenshed's 50th year, we would like to revisit  ‘Rock’ and would like to invite not only our parish members but our neighbouring parishes to take part.
At the moment all we have are the dates, which are Sunday March 24th at the church and then March 25th at the Chickenshed Theatre.
Details to follow!!!

Five Days in the Green Abbey

For the Season of Creation 2023, our parish will organise an “Ora et Labora” week (work and prayer) at Sclerder Abbey in Cornwall. The Green Abbey project embraces sustainability and is an exciting new permaculture endeavour situated on the grounds of a former Carmelite monastery.

The plan is to experience and share the life of work and prayer with the members of the Chemin Neuf community residing there. It may be a joint experience with other parishes in our deanery.

Cana Welcome

For all couples, married or not and particularly for young married couples, young parents, those who want to build the foundations of a solid couple and those who have been together for a long time and who want to take more time for their couple.
Cana Welcome is a programme proposed in a parish at a rhythm of one evening per month and one weekend during the year. The evenings take place in small sharing groups of four or five couples and are lead by an experienced couple.
The couples live a true fraternal life all along the year and explore together matters of daily life: communicate more effectively, the differences between a man and a woman, the equilibrium between professional and family life.
This introduction meeting will be on Saturday 30th September at 6.30pm (Cheese and wine provided).

Cockfosters Sharing Groups Launch Event

In our Parish we emphasise the importance of fellowship and we have a number of small sharing groups to support this - Cockfosters Sharing Groups (CSGs).

We believe that a Christian community is strengthened by supporting one another in friendship and prayer. Sharing our joys and difficulties helps us to build a strong Christian community.

The purpose of these small groups is to grow in faith through personal sharing of our lives in the light of the scriptures. They ate for everyone: singles, couples or divorced, elderly or young and they are made up of 7 to 10 people who meet once every three or four weeks.

Launch evening - Saturday 30 September 6.30 to 8.30pm (Cheese and wine provided).
