Cockfosters Sharing Groups

In our parish we emphasise the importance of fellowship and we have a number of small sharing groups to support this - Cockfosters Sharing Groups (CSGs).

We believe that a Christian community is strengthened by supporting one another in friendship and prayer. Sharing our joys and our difficulties helps us to build a strong Christian community.

What are Cockfosters Sharing Groups (CSG) ?

The purpose of these small groups is to grow in faith through personal sharing of our lives in the light of the scriptures. They are for everyone: singles, couples or divorced, elderly or young and they are made up of 7 to 10 people who meet once every three or four weeks.

The lockdown has shown us how important it is to be connected with one another and share in confidence. We want to provide an opportunity for parishioners to share in a safe environment, where we can be ourselves with our fellow Christian brothers and sisters.

Your Commitment

  • To meet once every 3 - 4 weeks for approximately 2 hours

  • Commit to the programme for a year

  • Under the umbrella of the parish

  • Commit to attending a Cockfosters Sharing Group Weekend at Storrington Priory.

The CSG Experience: Guide to Sharing

Here are a few simple guidelines to support your sharing experience:

  • Everyone is invited to share during the sharing time but it is not an obligation.

  • We share in an atmosphere of trust and respect of each other.

  • Anything shared in the group is treated confidentially and needs to stay within the group.

  • When sharing, please use ‘I’ language and talk about your own perspective.

  • Although difficult, we try not to turn the sharing time into a discussion or a debate which may prevent others from sharing.

Each session was an amazing experience, I gained a better understanding of the scriptures through discussion, reflection, and prayer. I looked forward to attending these meetings as I experienced the power of the Holy Spirit in the most wonderful way. This opportunity was also a chance to meet some lovely friends who were very supportive and uplifting. I highly encourage you to join a sharing group as it is a very positive spiritual experience that deepens your relationship with Christ and strengthens the bonds within the church community.
