TOWARDS THE CLOSING OF THE JUBILEE YEAR

Dear Parishioners,

As we approach the end of this blessed Jubilee Year, we pause to reflect on the theme that has guided us: “Pilgrims of Hope.” Throughout the year, we have journeyed together in faith, prayer, and service, seeking to renew our trust in Christ and to be living witnesses of hope in our communities. The Jubilee invited us to rediscover God’s mercy, to strengthen our bonds as one family of believers, and to look forward with courage and joy to the future.

Across the Diocese, parishes have marked this Jubilee with special liturgies, pilgrimages, acts of charity, and opportunities for reconciliation. Each celebration reminded us that hope is not simply an idea but a gift we are called to embody—bringing light to others, especially those in need.

Now, as the Jubilee Year draws to its close, we are invited to gather in thanksgiving for all the graces we have received. The Closing of the Jubilee Year will take place on Sunday, 28 December 2025, with a Solemn Mass celebrated by Cardinal Vincent Nichols at Westminster Cathedral at 12 pm. This liturgy will be a moment of profound unity, as the Diocese comes together to give thanks to God for the blessings of the Jubilee and to entrust our future to His providence.

We warmly encourage parishioners to attend this Mass, joining with fellow pilgrims from across the Diocese. For those unable to travel, we invite you to mark the day in your own prayer and thanksgiving, perhaps by lighting a candle at home or attending your local parish Mass with the intention of closing the Jubilee in spirit.

As we conclude this holy year, let us carry forward its message: to remain steadfast as Pilgrims of Hope, rooted in Christ, open to His mercy, and committed to sharing His love with the world. May the Jubilee’s fruits continue to inspire us in the ordinary rhythms of parish life, guiding us to be signs of hope in our families, workplaces, and communities.

With gratitude for our faith and participation, we look forward to walking together into the new year, strengthened by the grace of this Jubilee.
