WEEK OF PRAYER FOR CHRISTIAN UNITY

Dear Parish Family,

Each year, Christians across the world join together for the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity; eight days of reflection, hope, and shared discipleship. From 18–25 January 2025, we were invited to unite our hearts with believers of every tradition, praying that the unity Christ longs for in His Church may grow ever deeper and stronger.

This year’s theme, “One hope, one calling,” taken from St Paul’s letter to the Ephesians, reminds us that we belong to one body and are guided by one Spirit. "There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called to the one hope of your calling" (Eph. 4:4). In a world marked by many expressions of faith, Paul calls us back to the truth that we are united in Christ.

Why is this week so important? Because unity is at the heart of our Christian mission. Jesus prayed “that they may all be one,” and every act of kindness, forgiveness, and openness draws us closer to fulfilling His prayer. In a world often touched by division, our unity becomes a living sign of hope.

St Paul invites us to embrace unity not as an idea, but as a way of living our faith. When we choose unity, we reflect the love and power of Jesus Christ and embody the heart of His teachings.

The prayers and reflections for the 2026 Week of Prayer for Christian Unity were prepared by the Inter-Church Relations Department of the Armenian Apostolic Church, along with their brothers and sisters of the Armenian Catholic and Evangelical Churches. The resources are jointly published by the Dicastery for Promoting Christian Unity and the World Council of Churches (WCC).

As we conclude this significant week, let us renew our desire to love God with our whole hearts and to recognise Christ in every neighbour. May our parish be a place where unity is lived with joy, generosity, and courage.
