Dear brothers and sisters,
In the blink of an eye, Summer holidays are over and there we are, at the edge of starting altogether a new year. We can be motivated or not, that won’t change anything. And there we are, like runners at the starting blocks of a new race! Ready or not, on the one hand, we have to run the race at full speed once we hear the starting pistol. Even not knowing all the details of the new race ahead of us. Of course we may have a few ideas and good clues, with a mix of hope and apprehension. But we are also very aware that a significant part of the year is beyond anticipation and we will have to deal and cope with the unexpected.
What we are sure of, on the other hand, is that the Lord is and will be present throughout the year. And what looks blurred or unpredictable at the moment, can certainly be experienced with Him, Lord which gives and brings to life. One verse we could keep in mind and in our heart at the start of this year comes from Wisdom 11:24-26.
“You love everything that exists, and nothing that you have made disgusts you, since if you had hated something, you would not have made it. And how could a thing subsist, had you not willed it? Or how be preserved, if not called forth by you? No, you spare all, since all is yours, Lord, lover of life!”
This verse puts us in the right perspective in front of God, who is a lover of life. That is He not only creates but ensures that what he has created subsists and be preserved. We can be preoccupied and worried about the unknown ahead. We might also don’t like some circumstances and situations we are in, or some points of our character. The Lord can bring us to embrace all situations because He can be found in everything and He loves everything, and most certainly our personal path and journey following Him.
To all of you, I wish a special blessing from the Lord at the start of this year.
