PARISH NEWS

BEING TOGETHER CLUB

Dear Parishioners,

A couple of months ago I asked Fr. Christophe if I could put a small article in the newsletter about the Being Together Club.  “Of course!” he said and he invited  me to write something for the parish newsletter.

Where do I start? Let me start with the facts.

The Being Together Club is a Social Club that meets on a Thursday afternoon in the small hall 1.30-3.30pm.  It is run by an enthusiastic group of volunteers who organise talks, games    workshops, tournaments, celebrations, quizzes, and lots, lots more. There is also quiet time to have a chat and catch up…. and the kettle, or should I say urn, is always on. A voluntary contribution of £1.50 is most welcome.

Now on to the more important stuff!  Who is the club for and what is its aim?

The “BT Club” as we like to call it is a “Social Club” for anyone who would like to spend some time in the company of others. It provides the opportunity for parishioners and their friends to meet up, socialise, and build friendships. The majority of people who attend are retired or semi-retired but the club is open to everyone.  The club is inclusive and should someone need assistance they can attend with a relative, friend or  carer.

The BT Club has just celebrated its 6th Anniversary and I have reflected on the last 6 years. What touches me the most is seeing friendships develop and bonds being made amongst our BT clubbers and volunteers and also observing how they care for each other and help each other out when a need  arises.

A beautiful example of “fellowship” within our parish.

A warm welcome awaits anyone who would like to come along to the BT Club. Just pop in for a cuppa and see how you feel. There is no pressure to attend every week as it operates as a “Drop In”.  There is a notice board in the entrance hall this weekend with photos and quotes from those who attend the club. Please take a look.

Hopefully we will see some of you at the Being Together Club in the future.

 Take Care

Maria Tozzi, BT Club Co-ordinator

Focus of the Week

Christ the King Playgroup

We have been working with the Excelsior School of Music (which uses our parish) to re-launch our parent toddler group. Beginning 9 November, it will take place every Thursday, 9:30-11:00.

Parents or carers can bring their babies and pre-schoolers to the large hall where there will be play time for the children and fellowship for the adults. A special music time will be held each session. Feel free to drop-in. No registration is necessary. Pick up a flyer in the entrance hall that you can pass on to your friends. We are also looking for volunteers who would like to help us on Thursday mornings. Any questions, please talk to Caterina, our pastoral assistant at the parish.
