“Blessed are they who follow the law of the Lord.”
God who has created the world and the origin of our existence, has decided to remain close to his creation and to us. He makes himself known through the gift of life and the beautiful things we can see and appreciate around us, and through his Word he communicates and talks to us. The law of the Lord, which comes from his heart, is the expression of his will and the good direction that we can choose for the good of our humanity that God loves.
The will of God and his commandments surprise us and they can disturb us when our vision of life is different than God’s plan. To discern God’s plan and to understand it, it is necessary that we take time to transform our mind and even our life.
God has called his beloved people the Hebrews who were in Egypt to enter his plan of salvation and the promise land. He has lead them through the desert for 40 years where they have learnt to believe deeply in the word of God.
God the Father has guided his beloved son Jesus-Christ by the Holy Spirit to resist the temptation through faith his Word during 40 days in the desert, after his baptism before starting the mission of salvation of humanity.
This period of Jesus’ solitude in the desert is a moment to be close to the God who guides his people with the support of his Word that we believe. Sometimes, we experience our faith on many things around us in the world but not in God who has created us.
This week, with the liturgy of the Church we begin on Ash Wednesday the Lenten season. This period before the celebration of Easter, is a particular moment to be close to God our Father and to be guided by him to become his children by trusting his Word. It will be a period of purification of our faith, our life and our love, to imitate Jesus-Christ more. He is the One who shows us how to rely on the Word of God day after day to receive his blessing.
